Join Wayne County Women’s Suffrage Centennial Task Force for a virtual celebration of Wayne County, Indiana’s critical role in the long struggle for women to secure the right to vote. Wayne County’s bold leadership in winning women the right to vote was evident when Wayne County established the first Indiana Women’s Rights Convention, one of the earliest in the country, in Dublin IN in 1851 and continued until suffrage ratification in 1920. Courageous women and men throughout Wayne County never gave up the fight to win women their essential right to vote. During this 2-part virtual series, meet two prominent suffragists, Dr. Mary F Thomas and George Washington Julian as they share details about what transpired in Wayne County that helped spark the women’s right to vote movement within Indiana and across the nation.
