Sisters, Mothers, Daughters and the “Less than Ladylike” Struggle for Suffrage in Indiana

October 30, 2019 @ 2:00 pm - 3:15 pm

2:00 pm
Melissa Gentry

This program tells the remarkable story of the battle for women’s suffrage in Indiana with a geographic context. Follow along on a map telling the story of the people and places connected to the battle for the ballot.  The story will be highlighted with historic photographs, letters, diaries, club minutes, oral histories, newspapers, and even artwork. Meet some of the unsung local heroes like Ida Husted Harper and Amanda Way of Winchester. And learn more about visits to Indiana by national suffrage figures like Sojourner Truth and Susan B. Anthony. Melissa Gentry from the Ball State University Libraries Map Collection will present this history program.
